I replaced an old handheld with this model and am completely pleased. I purchased a serial USB cable for $[...] from CompUSA and ARC software for $[...] from [...] to enable me to utilize the desktop programming capabilities so for a little over $200 I have a great little system here.

The Uniden BC898T With ARC898 Software is the cats meow!! The problem here is the seller "bargain88" claimed it was a Refurbished unit! I deal in refurbished radios so I no what's what, i.e. you can't tell a refurbished radio from a new one! the only why you no it's refurbished is, it says so on the box, and on a sticker under the radio!! In this case, there was no BOX or 90 Unedin warranty, or a refub sticker under the radio!! Yeah all refurbished anything from Uniden comes in a box that says REFURBISHED in big red letters right on it there is also a silver sticker under what ever they refub with the day it was checked and who checked it!! This unit had no box or 90warranty or sticker?? Yeah Uniden warranties there refurbished equipment for 90 days, that fact is also in the box.. So I have to give the radio 5 out of 5 stars, and the seller " bargain88 " 0 out of 5 stars for selling me some used equipment and lying about it to make a buck!!

Not a bad scanner for the money. Easy to program. Still need lots to learn on how to use the trunking mode and other feactures. I highly recommend buying the frequency channells for your area. Radio Shack has stop selling the national frequency book but you can still find them on the net. Over all it's a good scanner.

Excellent scanner. The built-in speaker is rather good for a scanner. Very easy to program. Only drawback is no alphanumerics, so you can't program the "name" of the frequency. This is a good product at a fair price.

This was the exact product ordered. Was very pleased that the original box was packed in a generic cardboard box with paper around it which kept the original box in perfect shape. Would order from again forsure
