Save up and get a nano instead.Nov 01, 2009 Whatever you do, avoid this product. I was lured by the lower price tag and as a group exercise instructor I needed something to lug all my music around on. I didn't want to lose my ipod (which I LOVE) so I got this instead.
Well I've gone through two of them. You name the problem and I've had it. It has stopped working in the middle of a class I'm teaching, I've gotten the white screen of death, the display crapped out and for some reason it just stopped connecting to my computer. If I could give this zero stars I would. It will break if you look at it sideways.
Sansa is replacing this for me, for the second time, but I'm going to buy another ipod instead because I just can't rely on this thing at all. I don't even think its worth giving to someone once the replacement gets here.
DON'T BUY IT, YOU'LL REGRET IT!
Well...Oct 24, 2009 I got a sansa view for about 60 bucks for an 8GB. not bad. i liked the feel of it, i liked the way the controls work and the screen graphics and color and brightness...i liked the radio..the one thing that got me to hate this to the death is the fact that it works badly with microSD cards. when syncing music with an expansion card will more than likely cause some problems, not detrimental to the player but to your time and irritabilty. when using a microSD card while syncing...many songs you have put onto the player will duplicate. delete these files it will help...for a while. re-connecting will not help, since i did this and it did the reduplicating again but more. it went from 7 duplicates to 8. VERY annoying. and the player freezes at will, randomely of course. I had a problem where i connected it and all of a sudden: all of my hard earned music was GONE. The battery is also awkward: it charges at different paces when hooked to different computers or a wall outlet. id say i give this player a 6 since it has good feel and look and good screen and stuff..but bad use with microSD card. the player alone is nice but with a card its dreadful. ive had a Sansa Fuze for a year and NO PROBLEMS!!! but i get the Sansa View and after one day i have difficulties. but the most problems were wit the microSD card. AMAZING MOVIE IMAGE THOUGH! i give it a ten for video but use otherwise with it i think is a 4 at best. i do like Sansa just not the view as much. i have a Sansa Fuze and since i got it a year ago no problems with it and still happy with it. thats why im disappointed in the View.
Good Hardware, Mediocre SoftwareOct 19, 2009 The is my second Sansa view and I've also bought them for my wife and children. This really is a good MP3 and video player. I use mine several hours per day at the gym. I listen to podcasts in the MP3 format and it works flawlessly. I also listen to subscription music from the Rhapsody service and the Rhapsody sound quality is fine. I also watch podcasts of various television programs and the video playback is excellent.
I've really only got minor complaints and they relate to some details of the firmware. The biggest ones are that the batter charge indicator is not entirely reliable. It tends to under-read, especially after using the radio or Audible player. This doesn't detract from the utility of the device, but it is an annoyance. Next, it's way to easy to confuse the device being powered off with it simply blanking the screen. You really have to carefully look for the goodby message to be sure you've turned the device off. If it's left on, it will deplete the battery and then when you want to grab it and go, you find that you're out of power. Minor revisions to the user interface like an explicit menu entry for shutdown and an occasional screen flash when the device is left on would make it much easier to manage the battery. Of course the flaky battery indicator shouldn't be that though to fix either.

Has one important major flawOct 17, 2009 Had no luck, even with latest firmware, getting the unit to resume any of my audio books. I tried changing the tags on the mp3 files but it did not work. The unit would go into auto shut off and then force you to start your audio book file from the start every time.
go with the viewOct 12, 2009 I was upgrading from a Sandisk Sansa e280 4GB unit. This unit does a better job playing everything (audio and videos) and with a larger screen and longer battery life, I was sold. I think this unit is a great option if you want to avoid ipod and itunes.
