Works great in a mixed speed networkNov 20, 2009 I use a collection of Cisco enterprise switches and routers at work. You're not going to get the same performance using this switch; nor are you going to have all the configuration options that you get with a managed switch, but for a basic, unmanaged GigE switch this is perfect. And there is something refreshing knowing you don't have to configure the switch and remember how you have configured the VLANs etc.
Do not listen to the person who said that the switch down-shunted all ports to the slowest possible speed. That's just plain wet. Just don't plug a 10/100 NIC into one of the ports and expect the switch to magically turn it into a GigE connection.
Worked as advertised...Nov 20, 2009 This is a good Gb switch at a reasonable price. It does not seem to generate much heat.
It seems to work correctly with Jumbo frames up to 9000.
Not much else to say about it...
Pretty good for home useNov 16, 2009 I wanted a switch at home that can provide me with around 8 ports without worrying about the setup. This suits my need perfectly. I get 7 ports (1 is used for uplink to router) and everything started working automatically without any setup. My computer and NAS does gigabyte and the performance was pretty good while transferring files. This switch is connected to a 10/100 router and I did not see any performance degradation between PC and NAS. I will keep on testing the transfer rate across different units in my house and update my review. So far this is value for the money and does good job.
As always shopping from amazon is a nice experience.
Good product, but D-link rebate system is clumsyOct 29, 2009 The product works fine with my printers (100Mb) and PCs (Gigabit) without the speed dropping to the lowest connection's on all ports.
D-link first rejected the rebate request saying the purchase was made outside the offer period (took almost six weeks get this reply). I had to call them and ask them to review the rebate form which clearly showed that the period allowed was later than what they claimed. Then they agreed send me the rebate (I'm told it will take another 4-5 weeks).
Exactly what I expectedSep 20, 2009 I was looking for an upgrade to the gigabit ethernet and this certainly fits the bill. I traded out another switch for this one and all I noticed was the increased transfer speeds. The plug is a little funky (the cord goes off to the side) and is a bit on the short side but it hasn't really caused me any problems.
