2Not very long lived.Sep 08, 2009
Bought my 206 last year from a friend who had only used it for a few months. The camera was well cared for and was in original packaging. The camera lasted me less than a year before it started failing intermittently. Finally last week it crashed and won't come back up at all. It shows a green light until I plug it into the network whereupon the orange fail light starts flashing. It's not accessible over the network. (Yes, I tried resetting it, restarting it and all the troubleshooting steps on Axis' web site and a few other things--wasted a lot of time on it.)

Before that I was very pleased with the camera--good interface, good picture quality, very nice low-light image. The downward-facing LAN jack is a little annoying as the LAN cable tends to tip the camera over. I fixed that by mounting the camera stand to a heavier wood base. I'm debating whether to buy a new one--I can't afford to be buying these every year. What ever happened to the 3 year warranty on electronics?

5Great cam, but difficult to set up with a MacNov 22, 2008
Once you get this camera working, it's great. However, setting it up using a Mac is a nightmare! I had to upgrade my O/S to gain access to Bonjour to get it working.

4Easy To Set UpJun 01, 2008
I use this as a security camera. It was easy to set up and it creates its own website on line so I don't even have to do that. The quality of the video is good.

4Very good little CameraApr 14, 2008
It works well for the price. Good quality picture and 30 frams per second. Using as a security camera and it has works well.

1Poor Support, Watch outFeb 26, 2008
I have purchased quite a few Axis products and have never had to use them for support. I recently went to upgrade the firmware and the firmware update bricked the camera. I went to Axis for support and they essentially were useless. Even though all indications were ok for the firmware upgrade the camera was no longer working (the camera worked 100% before).

I contacted Axis for troubleshooting on the issue and they did not read the steps I went through before contacting them; i.e., they didn't bother to take the time to even read the trouble ticket before responding. Their response? reboot/reset to factory settings. I replied I had done that and they replied they could no longer assist me because I bought the camera too long ago.

Well, Axis still supports the camera version on their website by issuing patches and firmware. However, apparently, if you use them, you use them at your own peril. They will provide zero support if anything goes wrong applying "their" firmware patch to fix bugs they initially had in their product.

Axis makes a good camera, but if it breaks, count on just purchasing another one; and never, never apply any firmware or software upgrades if the camera is in working order.
