Not Just Another MP3Nov 17, 2009 Bought this a couple of months ago and gave it some time to see how good it actually was, no problems...
The sound quality was better than I suspected, little headphones, full sound.
The FM on this mp3 player is a big plus.
SanDisk Sansa Clip 4GbNov 10, 2009 I haven't used this MP3 player much yet, since it just arrived, but so far it works fine. My main concern was that it work with Linux, and it does! (I'm using openSuse 11.1 at the moment). After plugging it into the USB port, Linux recognized it, and I opened a new window, dragged and dropped a couple of mp3 folders into the Music folder, and it plays fine. On the downside, it doesn't seem to recognize .m3u playlists. I'll have to play with this more, and see if Linux has something to number the files or something, to get the proper play order. It's not really a huge problem, though, I'm happy with this mp3 player.
WARRANTY PROBLEMNov 09, 2009 YOU WILL GET A RUN AROUND WHEN YOU TRY TO GET SANSA TO HONOR THEIR WARRANTY ON A DEFECTIVE PLAYER. MY PURCHASE FROM AMAZON IN MAY, 2009, STOPPED DEAD AFTER PLAYING ABOUT 30 MINUTES ON SATURDAY AND WOULD NOT RESTART. SUNDAY IT RESTARTED BUT WOULD ONLY PLAY A SONG FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS AND THEN STOP AND SWITCH TO ANOTHER SONG ON MY RHAPSODY PLAY LIST. WHEN I ASKED SANSA LIVE CHAT MONDAY HOW TO RETURN THE PLAYER FOR A REPLACEMENT THEY TOOK 35 MINUTES TO ASK ME VARIOUS QUESTIONS AND TELLING ME TO DO THIS AND THAT TO THE PLAYER. AFTER THE 35 MINUTES I ASKED IF THEY WERE GIVING ME A RUN AROUND TO DISCOURAGE ME FROM RETURNING THE PLAYER.THEY SAID NO THAT THEY WERE TRYING EXHAUST ALL POSSIBILITES BEFORE HONORING THEIR WARRANTY. THEY COULDN'T TELL ME HOW MUCH LONGER THEY WERE GOING ASK QUESTIONS ABOUT THE PLAYER. SO, THEY EXHAUSED MY LUNCH BREAK AND I HAD TO GIVE UP. I DON'T KNOW IF THIS IS THEIR WAY OF GETTING AROUND HONORING A WARRANTY. BUT IT SURE FEELS LIKE IT.

Not built to last.Oct 22, 2009 I'm done with Sandisk Sansa. I enjoy the interface, as I like having an mp3 player with regular Windows drag-and-drop functionality. It's nice not having to use iTunes or Windows Media Player. In general, I like the design, the interface, and the price is right.
Unfortunately, these aren't built to last. I bought this Sansa Clip three months ago, and it's dead. I plug it in to try and charge it again, but it won't happen. The odds are the battery simply died, and the batteries on these can't be replaced. I know this is an unlucky occurrence, but it's a bad sign none the less.
This is actually my second Sandisc Sansa player, the previous model I had lasted for a year and a half. That one also died, and that model even supported replaceable batties. I bought a new battery for it, and it still did not work.
The verdict? Sansa makes very usable mp3 players with a nice interface, but they have an expiration date. Maybe it'll last a year or two, maybe it'll only last a few months. In the end, the cheap price does not make it worthwhile.
