The charger works effectively. Perhaps the problem lies in my thinking that I should be able to charge my player while listening to it. If you are on a road trip, you don't want to have to listen to radio stations fade in and out for forty miles while your player charges. On the other hand, you also don't want to listen to feedback if you charge the player while it is in operation. That being said, this product will charge your Zen, and that might be all we can ask.

The first time I used this charger on my zen v the battery was over half charged. When I plugged it in to top off the battery it locked up my player and ran the battery down. When I was returning from my trip,I left the player on charge (over 350 miles) and it did nothing. I hooked it to my computer charger (usb port) when I returned home and the player charged fine. I am still trying to find some warrenty info. on the charger that won't!
