Description:

Let me go on record and say that I was never a fan of the original Crash Bandico Even though Crash was disarmingly cute and fuzzy, and even though the game's graphics were just about as good as they got in those days, the frustrating design of the game made playing it such a painful experience that I still have flashbacks when I see small marsupials on the Discovery Channel. But just one short year after his debut, Crash is back in a sequel that is so far superior to the original that I'm willing to forget the mistakes of the past. The new storyline is simple: A very gullible Crash is corralled into collecting crystals for the evil Dr. Cortex and gems for the terrible N. Brio. There are 25 levels in all; each level contains an easy-to-find crystal and hard-to-earn gems. Instead of being forced to approach the game in a strictly linear fashion, you progress through a series of five warp rooms. Each warp room contains five levels, which you are free to tackle in any order. After you have found the crystals in each level, you can progress to the next warp room. This system of warp rooms is a great innovation; it's clear how to progress in the game, and yet you have the option of moving to a different level if you're hopelessly frustrated with one area. Best of all, you can save your game in the warp room at any time (a big improvement over the original game's horrific save system).

5Crash bandicoot cortex strikes backFeb 03, 2010
This game is an amazing game. The graphics are great, very lush environments. I give this game an overall 5 stare due to the fact that not only do you go around collecting crystals but the real challenge to this game is collecting all the gems. when you do this you open up an secret ending that without reciving it makes the intro to the third game kind of blurry. Im not going to tell you what it is but if you really want to know look up my youtube account, or just look up any old video on youtube.

if you ever get stuck my walkthrough shows you how to do each level step by step with my friend untill I reach 100%.

4GREAT GAME- Kind of difficult to be honest...Oct 07, 2009
Great game, and great service from amazon. Love it, kind of hard and it takes awhile to beat. One of those games you can pick up anywhere!

5Hours and Hours of fun, nicely similar to the first one but even better!Jul 14, 2009
Crash goes along a little faster in a good way. Not as slow to start out as one. It also has the same fun characters, the same fun box smashing and running. Lots of fun, great for kids and adults, a super fun game for the whole family.

Later in installments Crash changed. There was CTR or Crash Team Racing which is fun if you like racing, and even if you don't....but it's not about finding boxes and getting through areas like the originals. Later there is one where you and a friend can play at once (Titans I think) and it's my very least favorite. There is also Crash Bash (LOVE THAT ONE, so fun, super for family time! But not the same 'story line' type as the early ones.

This one is just more of what you loved about Crash Bandicoot the first.

Super fun for the whole family, will keep your kids busy and entertained for hours and hours. TOTALLY replayable, can last for years if you love Crash.

5A Lot of Changes, But Still Another Worthy Crash GameJun 15, 2009
In fact, I always tended to enjoy this one more than the previous, due to the fact that they made it less frustrating at times.

In this game, Crash "helps" Cortex to "save the world" by collecting crystals, despite the fact that Crash's sister, Coco, knows Cortex's true intentions. However, Crash doesn't know until near the end, due to a terrible signal quality.

The gameplay and design has changed a lot with this title. Crash can now use the circle button to duck, slide when moving and crouch jump. There are less levels, but they are divided into five Warp Rooms with five levels each (with a bonus warp room included). Plus you can actually save whenever you please!

Along with these, there are also more level settings, whether it would be the woods, the cold, the sewers, even the ruins. Remember when you rode the hog in the first game? Well, this time, you ride a polar bear cub instead.

You still collect gems in this game, but the mandatory ones are the crystals mentioned before in each level, which are easy to obtain. You still will receive a box gem for destroying every box (even the new Nitro boxes which should not be touched until you reach the green ! switch), except you can use up as many extra lives as you want and still get the gem as long as each box is destroyed. The color gems still serve the same purpose, even though there are only 5. The gems are more challenging to get and will still give you a reason to keep playing.

While this game may seem a bit short, it is still a fun platformer released in the PS1 days.
