Great Advice, Thank You...Mar 06, 2010 I wrote a review earlier, but it was this page I'd meant to write it for. Long story short, thanks to all the reviewers who mentioned the earlier versions of the Discwasher. I just revamped my entire stereo system. Everything has been arriving over the last 3 days (new turntable, EQ, receiver, speakers, speaker stands, and dual cassette deck).
I wanted a good vinyl cleaner to get my old albums in shape; I intended to try this one. With all of the negative reviews of this product, and all of the mentions of the original Discwasher, I decided to go to Ebay to see if any vintage Discwashers were available. Luckily there were quite a few. Some of the sets were definitely care worn, but I saw a photograph of one set that looked pristine. It just arrived in the mail today and to my pleasure everything looked brand new. I cleaned a few albums to test on my current turntable... WOW, what a big difference!! If my albums sound this good on my 20 year old equipment, it should sound wonderful with the new stuff. Thanks for steering me in the direction of a vintage Discwasher, it was a great buy!!
As I said in my other review, I gave 3 stars for this product to be neutral as I've never used it. However, I would encourage going to Ebay for a vintage set. Most of the Discwashers are bid items, but I got lucky and found my Discwasher for "Buy Now", and I certainly did.
Works Great, But...Feb 24, 2010 The D4+ Record Cleaning Kit works great at cleaning records. However, it doesn't lift off the dust. It leaves the dust in a neat line and creates a static charge once the record is cleaned. This is why I use it in combination with the Audioquest Anti-Static Record Cleaner, which has carbon fiber bristles that lift off the line of dust and eliminates the static charge. I use the D4+ Record Cleaning Kit for the initial cleaning of all used/previously owned records I purchase. The Audioquest brush is used for all subsequent cleanings for any bits of dust that end up on the record thereafter. The poor reviews of the D4+ Record Cleaning Kit are too harsh simply because it doesn't lift off the dust like the previous classic version.
Record cleanerFeb 17, 2010 Record-cleaning kit was received in a timely manner. Although I haven't used it yet, I do look forward to increased enjoyment when listening to my LPs. Since Amazon has asked for a review of this December 2009 purchase, I cannot give any further information on the kit's results.
Clean recordsFeb 09, 2010 Bought a vinyl to mp3 recording device for my wife for Christmas and also a D4+ kit. Works great. I remember having one of these back in the 70's.
Shouldn't try to transfer records to mp3's without this type of product. Cleans the records thourghly and keeps the ticking and skipping to a mimimum.
The one I had way back had the wooden block hollowed out so you could store the liquid in the block. This one comes with a small pouch. Not as good for storage. But a great product non the less.
If you have old binyls you need itJan 31, 2010 If you have old binyls you need it. In Ebay you will find a better offer which includes more bottles.
