Do Not Buy JVCJun 04, 2008 I received the JVC DR-MV7SU as a gift 3/07. By 4/08, that's right! - after the lousy 1 year parts warranty and the lousy 90 day labor warranty had expired, this thing does not want to play either dvd or video tapes.
The video tape just sits in the machine and the dvd tray just keeps ejecting all dvds. After reading about problems others have had with this brand I will not be purchasing any of their products in the future.

Buyer beware! JVC dual decks have a long, proven history of very poor build quality !!Jan 20, 2008 I recommend buyers look at the Amazon reviews for defunct JVC VHS/DVD
dual deck products before they purchase any current dual deck model.
They have a proven history of extremely poor build quality. JVC keeps
rapidly changing model numbers, which makes this more difficult for
the consumer to discover. However they all look very similar with
only slight cosmetic differences.
Search on these item numbers and see for yourself:

Great until hardware failureDec 01, 2007 I have owned this unit for about 7 months. All worked great until one day the unit could not read any dvd's. Had to take it in for repair. They replaced cable and logic board. Received unit back and still does not work. Took unit back in and they said they will now have to replace entire dvd drive - apparently JVC would not replace drive first time around, they wanted the repair shop to replace a part. They did say there would be a high probability that this would not work entirely. I have to pay labor on this warranty repair which was 70 dollars. Unit is in shop awaiting new drive from JVC.
I am surprised by the DVD failure. I have not used the unit that much. I have recorded with it and it has worked great........

Customer Care doesn't care.May 19, 2007 I never had the opportunity to discover if this is a quality product - it failed the second time I used it. That could happen with anyone's product so I contacted JVC's local repair organization and took the machine to them on February 16th. Today is May 18th and I still have no repaired machine or replacement. I contacted JVC's "Customer Care" unit on numerous occasions with no results. Several times they said they would get back to me "tomorrow" and never returned the call. I still have hopes but you can be sure I will never purchase a JVC product again. I hope this doesn't happen to you.
