Description:

The Eikon(TM) Digital Privacy Manager combines the award-winning Eikon USB peripheral fingerprint reader with the same Protector Suite QL software currently shipping on millions of notebook PCs today. The Eikon Digital Privacy Manager offers any user with an existing PC the benefits of simple convenience and strong security provided by UPEK's unique biometric authentication technology, all with the simple swipe of their finger. In addition to easier access to their growing number of password-protected web accounts, users also enjoy the following benefits by simply swiping their finger: 1) Respond to Windows® Vista(TM) User Account Control (UAC) requests to enter an administrator password for tasks such as software installations or configuration changes; 2) Logon to Windows, lock and unlock the PC, and switch between Windows user accounts; 3) Protect sensitive files by encrypting them; 4) Launch favorite applications by assigning specific fingers for each one. The Eikon Digital Privacy Manager addresses the growing consumer market need for a simpler and more secure way to protect important personal information from threats such as phishing, password dictionary attacks and malicious software. Rather than using simple or redundant passwords on multiple sites, users can now choose complex passwords and let the Eikon Digital Privacy Manager remember them automatically! The Eikon Digital Privacy Manager leverages the same hardware and software from UPEK integrated into millions of laptops from the world's leading PC brands. The Eikon fingerprint reader won the prestigious Consumer Electronics Association (CES) Best of Innovations Award in 2007. The bundled Protector Suite QL software is compatible with Windows Vista, XP Home and Professional, 2003 and 2000 operating systems.

5Much Better than APC & Omni-PassFeb 18, 2010
I'm running Windows Vista 64 bit. Prior to this Eikon I used an APC Bio-Pod fingerprint reader with Omni-Pass software. It worked fine but was very basic. When I upgraded to Internet Explorer 8 the Omni-pass would no longer work. When looking around I found that I could buy this Eikon unit WITH software cheaper than I could upgrade the Omni-Pass. That has turned out to be a great decision. This Eikon does so much more than the Omni-Pass and allows more than one user name and password per page (for instance if you have 2 different PayPal accounts). After reading other comments I was concerned that I might have to pay for extra software upgrades. It does require you to register the product before it will work on more than 2 sites but the registration is free and the software upgrades have so far been free too. Every now and then I'll have to swipe my finger twice but that's no big deal to me. The bottom of the unit has a rubber base which keeps it from sliding around which is very nice too. I'm very pleased.

2Easy to use, but it reads poorlyFeb 05, 2010
Bought it six months ago because Microsoft refuses to make their fingerprint reader work with a 64 bit OS. Installed easily on Widows Vista 64bit system. Registered all ten fingers. The reader hardly ever recognizes the first read. About a quarter of the time it "times out" before it recognizes one of my fingers. I have been keeping track for the last week or so and it takes and average of 10.5 swipes before it gets a good read--just a little quicker than keying ID and password.

nice fingerprit reader - has a lot of good qualities - had problems getting to run on Win 7 - 32 bit
downloaded new software - works better

doesnt seem to want to work on a lotof sites though.

4A little sensitiveJan 05, 2010
Bought it for my XP desktop, and it still works even after upgrading to Windows 7. Dunno if it's me, but it takes a few tries for my finger to scan correctly.

I did like that they made me scan more than one finger...in case I lost the first one!

5AwesomeAug 07, 2009
Works great! I am using this on Windows Vista 64-bit Operating System. It works perfectly.
No problem scanning my finger... works on all the websites I've tried it on.
Moving up from the MS fingerprint reader... this one works better.
I could not be happier with this product.
