This thing is small!! But it has a lot of features - I mean, besides the usual alarm clock settings, it's got a calendar which displays the day as well. Also has a clear plastic lid which covers the buttons you use to set the time & alarm & date, which might be a pain if you want to keep the cover on and also hit the snooze button a few times before getting out of bed as the snooze button is under the lid, too, and if the cover's down when the alarm goes off, you got to lift it to hit the snooze button. But I like the different colors that can be displayed and each color has a different brightness so you can choose how bright you want the light to be - brightest setting is still not overpowering. The numbers aren't that big, so if you wear glasses and like big numbers, this might not be the clock for you....

I have been looking for several months for an alarm clock that GLOWS in the dark without having to reach over and tap a button. I wanted the day, month, & date. I wanted it to an atomich clock, but that is virtually impossible to find, so I settled for a plug in. This elgin fits the tee exactly. I like the different colors and ESPECIALLY the 3-D effect it has. The numbers all look like they are resessed deep in the clock which gives it a 3-D effect. The 3-D effect doesn't show in the picture BUT IT SURE DOES WHEN YOU PLUG IT IN. I put it on my night stand and tried to read it at night, but everything was blurry and I could hardly make out the numbers. This is NOT the fault of the clock, but with my eyes, which are getting worse. I moved it to my desk and BINGO! I can see it clearly with my glasses on. I paid alot of MONEY for other clocks that said that they glow in the dark, but don't be fooled. YOU HAVE TO PUSH A BOTTON IN ORDER TO SEE THE TIME. Isn't that great for a guy that can't see the numbers with is glass's off. The clock is smaller that I thought it would be. It fits in the palm of your hand. I wanted a larger clock that would do the same thing. I started looking around and found the ELGIN E-3451 COLORATIONS ALARM CLOCK. The only problem was that every store I checked was out of stock. I took 2 months and close to 400 stores before I found it in stock at TARGET. I had checked them previously and they were out of stock also. For some unknown reason I went back and checked again a couple of weeks ago and they had them in stock. I ordered two. The clock is perfect. It is big enough where I can put it on my night stand and see the information quite fine without my glasses, and wonder of wonders it stay illuminated all the time.
Bottom line. Both of the alarm clocks are excellent. It just depends on how bad your eyes are, which one you prefer.

People are complaining about size. I don't now about you, but I want something that isn't going to take up my whole night table! It's the perfect size for me. Loud enough to wake me. Just press the top down to snooze, you don't need to open the top. Buttons are very easy to handle and figure out. Also displays the date, which I find to be a plus. I like it very much. I suggest it for someone younger because they can change the colors as much as they like, and it will get them up in the morning. It's a good alarm clock for anybody, but if you're a crazy heavy sleeper, maybe you need something louder.

The different colors for the display are beautiful. I took this clock apart and wired it to ring a 95 decimal fire bell when the alarm goes off. I have to admit I am impressed that the clock still works even after all my wiring mistakes. Now I have myself a good clock with a lowd alarm to wake me up. If I could change anything about it I'd like a programmable alarm duration and a programmable snooze feature. However, all things considered for the price I am happy with it. The buttons on top of the clock sometimes have to be pressed three times before it changes the display.

I got my son this clock for christmas and each color broke one right after the other. In total it lasted 2 weeks. FAIL.
