defective and very little instruction or support for the productMar 08, 2010 The Flip simply did not work. There was no support, the remote button component was flimsy, and there was not enough information given about the Flip for me to troubleshoot the issue myself.
I'm an independent contractor who has a client that recently "upgraded" their system, upgrades which mean some parts of their computer platform require Vista, some XP. As a workaround for this situation, I got the Belkin Flip so I could switch between my Vista and XP boxes (desktops). The setup was very easy and quick as this is essentially a splitter and requires very little explanation to install.
Once installed, the unit didn't want to switch between computers. While trying to figure out the issue, I discovered quickly that the instructions are useless, it's just a very small pamphlet with a few sentences on how to plug the Flip in. The troubleshooting website they direct you to has very little additional information. I suspect that in an effort to show how easy this unit is to use, Belkin's instructions are deliberately brief, which pretty much backfires.
Both my XP and Vista boxes work with my monitor, keyboard, and mouse, so that is not the issue. However, the Flip may not have recognized the XP box -- given that the Flip is marketed SPECIFICALLY so you can keep your old computer hooked up while using your new computer, the fact that Flip didn't recognize the XP box is a pretty big problem. It's also possible that the remote button was the issue, since the light on it never worked and the button rattled noticeably. During troubleshooting, I noticed that depending on which computer was hooked up to the Flip, the Flip's main unit would blink green, blink yellow, or stay solid green. Again, nothing on the instructions or website indicate what these lights mean, if anything.
Belkin F1DF102PFeb 14, 2010 I have a PS2 keyboard and a Logitech wireless USB mouse. I put a USB to PS2 adapter on the mouse connection and this worked like a charm. I can't imagine using this without the remote so I'd suggest getting this option. It works great. Enable simple file sharing on one folder on each (networked) computer, and you can swap files as easily as you change monitors. Wish I had bought one sooner.

It is was it is - almost...Nov 12, 2009 Contrary to other reviewers, I found that all mouse and keyboard functions work quite normally through this switch. At first, some special keyboard operations were failing but after a few reboots and keyboard resets, all works quite well. I'm also using a 27 inch 1080p monitor and it appears fine.
People should note that for USB or wireless mouse or keyboards, there are other switch models designed for that. Use of adapters always poses a risk. The only adapter supported for this product would be VGA to DVI to the monitor.
The annoying part of all this are the deliberately omitted specifications and the carefully "edited" picture of this product. The VGA cables on this switch are NOT the same length! One is 6 feet but the other (clipped from the photo) is only 2 feet. That means the switch will be sitting on top of one of your computers. Fortunately, the remote button to activate the switch is on a cable that is also 6 feet so this can be positioned somewhere accessible and can be attached with an included adhesive Velcro patch.

Refund never submittedJan 29, 2009 I ordered this product from this company through Amazon.com. After checking my current unit I found a cable became loose and I did not need the merchandise. I tried to cancel the order via email and was told I was to late to stop the order but I could try to refuse the delivery for a full refund. I was not home when the item was delivered and the carrier left it at the door. I contacted the company again and the sent a return confirmation slip. I took the item to UPS as instructed on Jan 13th. I have not received credit for my return as of today January 29th.
A good productNov 29, 2008 It is not the cheapest, but it is quite reliable and won't creep up on you with unintended hot-key combination. Plus it looks good.
