1Product is not as describedOct 30, 2009
I ordered this product because I need a headset with a sound card plug connection. This product looks great and perfect for my use. However, the item does NOT have a sound card connection and the seller (not Amazon) will NOT take the item back if you open the package.

I cannot comment on the quality of the item as I cannot use it.

The Jabra Hi Fi Stereo PC headset is an excellent headset for use with SKYPE.

2Not Vista Ultimate CompatibleMay 30, 2007
I did a Google search for Vista compatible head phone sets because my Logitech wouldn't work when I purchased my new computer, pre-loaded with Home Premium--
The Jabra came up on Amazon's site so I purchased it. It worked fine on Home Premium but after I used the CD upgrade to Vista Ultimate, it stopped working. So did my speakers that came with the computer.

Microsoft finally got my speakers working but not the head set--I called Jabra and someone was suppose to get back to me--that was two weeks ago--I'd like to know how to get this working--where are the drivers for it? I think I am going to have to return it to Amazon and find a head set that works which is a real bummer because when this set worked it was AWESOME! :((

4Compatible With Vista Ultimate OSApr 14, 2007
This is a great stereo sounding headset, the best computer headset I've ever owned in that regard. Plus, it is compatible with my Vista Ultimate OS! My other headsets, which were compatible with XP Professional just froze my Vista OS. Vista recognized this headset immediately once I plugged it in to a USB port. It downloaded (and installed) the drivers in less than a minute. However, I had to go into the Vista Control Panel, then Sounds and make it my default connection (for Sounds) in order for it to work. I use it as my microphone too and had to go into recording (under Sounds) and make it my default connection. The only thing I didn't like was when I restarted my laptop, I had to go back into the control panel and make it my default connection again for sounds and recording.

I give this an A+ for stereo sound and a B+ for comfort. It also worked very well while I was watching DVD movies and chatting live on all my Instant Messengers.

The Documentation that came with this was useless for Vista. But the headset is compatible with the Vista OS.

Amazon got this to me in one day in NYC at no extra charge. At $40, this headset is well worth the money. My rating is 4 1/2.

4A+ for sound, C+ for comfort, B for packabilityMar 16, 2007
I work from home and am on my VoIP softphone a lot. I listen to music sometimes between calls, so I end up wearing a headset about 9 hours a day. I travel about one week a month. So I want a headset that has excellent sound -- both listening and talking. It has to be comfortable enough to wear all day and easy to carry when traveling. This fits the bill better than anything else I've found, but it's not perfect.

The earpiece (listening) sound quality is just outstanding -- audiophile class. The mic sounds clear and natural and suppresses background noise well. I just can't find anything bad to say about the sound.

The comfort is good. I would have no complaints if I only needed to wear it for a couple of hours at a time. However, it hurts my ears after a couple of hours. See the grip list for details. "Pillow-soft earpieces" translate to fairly soft (but not wimpy) open-cell foam. The spring-loaded strap under the headband is comfortable and adjusts automatically to any wearer, but it mashes down the hair.

The earpieces swivel flat for packing. This is the minimum necessary for reasonable traveling, but I've seen other headsets whose headbands fold and can be packed smaller. Also, the foam earpieces are not protected from pressure in luggage. I would really appreciate snap-on hard caps that would cover the foam -- or some other means of protection.

The term "noise cancelling" is confusing because it can apply both to:
1. a mic that suppresses ambient noise -- good for talking when you're in a noisy room so that the other person doesn't hear all the background sounds.
2. headphones that play a phase-flipped or negative version of ambient noise in the earpieces so as to the deaden it to the wearer (commonly used by travellers to suppress airplane noise).
This headset has #1 but not #2. I would appreciate both -- perhaps in a future model.

Gripes:
- The headset grips my head too tightly, and the tension is not adjustable. This might be an advantage for someone who wants it to stay put while they move around, but I sit pretty much in one spot and want 9 hour comfort.
- The earpieces don't swivel freely. Many headphones have earpieces mounted on gimbals that allow them to mate perfectly with the ear, but these don't. The preset angle is OK but not perfect for me.
- The volume/mute pod doesn't have a clip on it, so it dangles and takes a few seconds to locate. This doesn't work well when, for example, I have to sneeze and need to mute the mic quickly while trying desperately to delay the sneeze. :)
- I would appreciate a mic with a shorter boom. When on the phone, the mic picks up my breathing just a bit -- not bad but noticable. However, the boom can be adjusted by bending; maybe I'll yet be able to get rid of the breathing noise. I use the Plantronics M175 headset for regular cordless/cell phones; its boom is just the right length but not bendable.
- The cord is a bit long, but I solved that by bundling it and tying with a twistee above and below the volume control pod. I'd really appreciate a control pod that I can wind extra cord around and lock at a certain length.
- No mash protection for foam earpieces when swiveled for traveling.

Don't be discouraged by the gripe list. They are mostly picky details, not major problems. Most of them have to do with comfort and wouldn't matter to many people.

If you like behind-the-ear headsets, you might consider the Logitech Premium Notebook Headset. I rate its sound as C+, comfort as B, and packability as A (primarily because it comes with a hard-shell case for travelling).
