1Sooooo Uncomfortable for Mommy and for Baby!Jan 18, 2009
This sling is really uncomfortable, both for mom and for baby. I kept trying to figure it out, thinking that I must be doing something wrong because it was just so uncomfortable. I had the right size, and I kept going back to the instructions to try to figure it out. Finally my husband said, "Stop trying! Use your other carriers!". I love my two other carriers... very comfortable for me and my baby falls asleep in them. With the New Native, he would scream and cry as I tried to shove him in, and then once he was in there he looked all contorted and his neck was bent in a funny way. I could wear it for about 5 minutes and then it felt like it was digging into my shoulder and the weight was unevenly distributed for my back. There are some really awesome carriers and slings out there-- I recommend getting a different brand for your own comfort, and for the well-being of your baby.

5Love it!Mar 24, 2008
This sling is fantastic! I started using it when my daughter was about 10lbs. Her previous sling was padded by the edges started to smush her head. The New Native website has a lot of videos to show you how to put the sling on - at first it does feel strange. I also needed a blanket underneath my daughter. They are in a curved position in the sling. To prevent their face from being covered - you need to fold it at the shoulder. If your back hurts with it - you are probably wearing the wrong size. It makes such a difference to try it on with baby because if it's too low it will be extremely uncomfortable. My daughter is now 9 months old and I am going to start trying the new ways to carry her. This is a must buy!

Is not as great as I thought. I got it so I could nurse descreetly but it never worked. Do use it occasionally used it for carrying him around and it is very easy to pack and use in a pinch.

I just got my sling in the mail today, and I tried it out while I was cleaning a house for three hours, and my 9-month-old LOVED it. I have a baby wrap that I've been using since he was born, which is nice, but it's kind of a process. We started out in the hip position and he kind of sat back in the sling and looked at me and around and played with a measuring cup. Then when he was hungry, I just had to slide him over, and I nursed him like five times while I was working, just supporting his head a little. When he got sleepy, I put him in the cradle position and he dropped off to sleep after a little bit. I was shocked, because he doesn't drop off to sleep anywhere anymore now that he's older. I was even more surprised, because he never liked being held in a cradle position even when he was a newborn, always wanted to be up bobbing his head around. I look forward to trying out other ways to carry him in it. The best thing is that there are no buckles or straps or anything to mess with. You just slip it over your shoulder, so it's very quick and easy. Plus I've heard the adjustable slings aren't very safe. I started out with the baby wrap because I wanted something that couldn't ever break, and now I've got this that has no breakable parts either. It's pretty comfortable too. I wore him for almost three hours, and my back feels fine.

1A big disappointment . . .Nov 04, 2006
I purchased this baby carrier for my 1-month-old son. When I put him in it, he looked so uncomfortable. I tried putting a blanket in there underneath him to prop him up a bit, but it still covered his face. So, I decided to shell out the $[...] for the infant support pillow, expecting that to make a difference. It didn't. He still looked uncomfortable and squished, only now I wasted MORE money. My son is 21 1/2 inces and 11 lbs 4 oz. I can't imagine how a bigger baby could fit in this at all. A big disappointment. If you're looking for a carrier, try the Bjorn. A million times better than this.
