Great dollar value for inkNov 03, 2009 Genuine HP ink in unopened original packaging as promised. Great price. Thanks will buy again.
Great device for the moneyOct 27, 2009 Having been in the 'copier' and multi function connected devices industry for a VERY long time, I feel uniquely qualified to review this product. I worked for a competing company for over 20 years, and upon leaving the other company I began looking for a device to meet my needs of scanning (to various destinations), copying, printing and very limited faxing (for my home office). I had decided to go with a laser device, but the promises of low output per page and the 'bang for the buck' of this device drew me to it instead. It was a great choice. Great output, acceptable speed (relatively slow scanning), and cost per page - the jury is still out - but that's because I'm still on my first set of cartridges. It appears that their estimates are fairly accurate, though.
The internet based user interface eases setup, and the device's touch screen interface is intuitive and easy to use. Great paper supply - memory card reader - document feeder (although a bit slow).
Sure, it's lightweight plastic, but for the price, what do you expect?
My only gripe? I can't get the scan to network feature to work. I have a house full of Apple computers - normally easy and intuitive to network - but all the support for this device's scan to network seems aimed at PC users. I know it will work, and eventually I'll take the time to get it working, but for now the scan to email and scan to memory device has met my needs, and it works flawlessly.
This is a great deal and, if it lasts more than a couple of years, I'll change that to a 'fantastic' deal.

Compatible with the HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 - it's the 'better value' sizeSep 28, 2009 This is probably the best value you can currently get for the HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 printers if you decide to stay with the officially approved cartridge. Its 2200-page rating is more than double that of the HP 940 Officejet Black Ink Cartridge (C4902AN) but it costs only 1/3 more. Definitely preferred even for a casual user because, unless you use your printer as a fashion statement or status symbol in the office, you ARE going to have to replace a 1000-page cartridge, sooner or later.
The 2,200 page rating is based on HP's testing methodology meaning that it's highly unlikely that you will get 2,200 pages out of your cartridge. If you make copies, if you print photos, if you use the high quality settings you are going to run out of ink much sooner but the fact remains that you do get a lot more ink in this cartridge than in the 'regular' one.
HP claims (couldn't verify) that using Officejet inks on papers with the ColorLok logo the output will retain color quality 'for decades'. Such an ink/paper combination, according to HP, will produce documents that resist water and fading.
Made in Singapore.

Price at Amazon is the "real " list priceJul 27, 2009 At $35.99 this is being sold for the same price as any Office Store. So its no big deal! HP published list prices are never the ones charged.
