I am not 1 for long reviews so will keep it short
This thing has saved me from 3 tickets now, has about 1 mile roughly of detection (1 of tickets saved by the detector was a good mile or more down the road)
it does pick up the automatic door openers on Highway mode, change to City and then its almost only actual radar guns also it picks up other crap detectors that do not have leak protection (as you drive past someone it will go off at a 2 to 3 sig strength then stop lol)
it is sensitive enough to alert to signals around a corner ahead which is a good plus
The Laser detector is perfect, works great, 1 suggestion i do have is mount the device near the bottom of your windshield in the center since Laser gun fields are only a foot or 2 by the time it hits you car and its pointed at your bumper so having up top it will not pick it up, also if you are hit by laser... as the instruction manual says (LOL) "you will not be able to stop in time since it gets a reading in just over 1-2 seconds, when the alert sounds adjust your driving... change lanes :)
overall i am happy, it has made its money back and works like a charm - great buy for the money, always loved Whistler
1 more time - mount it near the bottom of the windshield in the center for the best detection.

i bought the laser/radar detector for a long road trip i was taking. it did the job. the directions are easy to follow on the set up and you learn very quickly of what each sound means. it is user friendly. everyone that drove was able to understand the alerts too. i would recommend this detector for anyone, especially for individuals that are new to radar/laser detectors.

we have made two long trips without any tickets. however, we passed several police cars parked on the side of the highway and the radar detector did not alarm....maybe the officer was not shooting his radar at the time?

I have had this thing for several months,I travel over 70 miles a day on the hi-way so I have given it plenty of opportunity.This detector has almost NO range.You will many times see a cop before this thing goes off.I can throw a rock farther than this thing picks up.It has all the fancy lights to impress you,the problem is they dont alert you until a cop is on top of you.I will say one good thing about this Whistler,it has made me to be sure and run the speed limit,because I know this thing wont warn me.This detector is WORTHLESS!
