Bought this item because the heat from our macbook pro 15" was getting pretty uncomforatble when on my lap. I'd usually use a text book, or magazine to deflect it. But eventually those heated up too. I bought the iLap laptop stand 15" and it's great. It's really light weight, and the cusion is a very plush and soft (both wrist and lap guards). The iLap comes with four rubber feet that you put on each corner to keep your macbook from sliding off, even though the macbook already has rubber feet on it, adding these gives it a little clearence between the bottom of the macbook and the stand, figure a little air circulation under there can't hurt. Make sure that the wrist guard is on when you stick these on so that you have the proper spacing. The wrist guard can slide off if you dont want to use it. I dont think the issue other people are having with it coming off unexpected is such a big deal. You could always put some additional velcro on it to stop that. No big deal. Great product, keeps our macbook nice and cool, and helps you keep a proper posture! I recommend this product!

I have had this stand for about 2 weeks now. It has done the job for keeping my laptop cooler and keeping my legs from burning up!! The leg on the back swivals back and forth if you need it to. The front padding slides on and off it you want it to. I guess you could apply some velcro if you wanted to it to stay in place better. As it is now you can slide it off when/if not needed. It also can rotate around to the bottom if you want it to sit level or roll it to the front for an arm pad and a sloped down affect. I have it sloped down for when I am typing and rolled under for a flat laying movie playing laptop. It works great for my 15" MacBook Pro!!

The iLap Laptop Stand by Rain Design is an outstanding option for not only using your laptop in a chair without burning up your legs, but it also works well without the cushion on a desktop. As advertised, it acts as a cool sink to actually keep your computer running cooler (check iStat). I had read other reviews where people had complained about the wrist cushion coming off, but I have not experienced that problem. It is actually lighter than I expected and is extremely comfortable in your lap. If you're looking for something to enable you to use your notebook while seated in a chair without heating up your legs I would highly recommend the iLap Laptop Stand by Rain Design.

I have more laptop holders than I care to admit to having purchased, but FINALLY I have one that is comfortable and keeps my lap cool while I work.
