Really clear soundNov 15, 2009 I just installed my TEAC AG-790 amp along with two sets of Polk Atrium 45 outdoor speakers and 16 ga / 4-wire speaker wire. At present, I'm only running the system off my XM satellite radio. The speakers are under the eves on my patio and the sound is really clear. There are a lot of features on the amp that I probably won't use, but the instructions are easy to read in case I want to connect other sources of music.Polk Audio Atrium 45 All-Weather Speakers (Pair, White)RiteAV - ULTRA - 16/4 Speaker Wire - 100 ft. The tuner/Amplifier I was waiting for.Oct 16, 2009 All was as it was advertised to be. The TEAC AG-790A Tuner/Amp was well packaged, easy to set up and operated perfectly with minimal research in the manual. The RCA hookups on the back all work well and provide an amplifying solution for the AM/FM tuner, my satellite TV HiDef DVR, DVD/CD player and computer, (through the Phono input). All my iTunes Library is now available in big sound. The radio reception, with an addition doubling of the antenna wire, is clear as a bell and reaches even remote stations. The stereo sound is clear and without hum, buzz or noise, and carries my forty year old heavy wood cabinet speakers without strain. Hooking up the speakers was okay, but the connections are a bit close together. My big fingers needed a bit of pre-teen help to manage them.
I was a bit taken aback by its size, but it had the exact dimensions specified in the ad; I just had not paid any attention to them. Only slight re-arrangement of my stereo cabinet was needed, however, and I am completely satisfied.
My house now has sounds again.
No surprises - nice unit!Sep 30, 2009 Would be nice if it had more inputs, but I was able to use a switchbox to allow my iPod, my Rio MP3 player, and my PC to share the Aux input. Other than that, it works just fine.
I was concerned that my 30 year old Advent speakers were about to go, but replacing the receiver has made them sound like new again, so I guess it was the receiver with the problem, not the speakers.
Easy to set up, easy to use. Definitely recommended if you are not looking for surround sound, but just a solid stereo receiver.

Good choice for the moneyAug 28, 2009 I think Amazon sent me the TEAC AG-790 rather than the AG-790A. (Twice. I returned the first one unopened.) Nevertheless I went ahead and hooked it up and it meets my needs well. I have a turntable, CD player, and tape cassette and all three work well with the receiver and sound fine with the SONY 3000 speakers I bought with it. Hook-up is easy.
I listen to two FM stations regularly and two others now and then. It was not particularly intuitive or transparent how to program memory of these stations, but with a little trial and error and a few curses I worked it out pretty easily. The remote works fine. Here's the one real weakness of the receiver. If you turn the system off by pushing Power on the receiver, the memory doesn't retain your stations. If while on you push Power on the remote, it takes you to standby (red light on the receiver) and retains your selections in memory. So we use the remote every time we want to use or leave the system.
For the money, this receiver is a good bargain.
Teac AG-790A Stereo ReceiverJul 04, 2009 This unit operated flawlessly & had exactly the connections on the back
& buttons on the front to functionally replace the old unit it replaces,
unlike everything else i found in town or online.
