4It works, but a couple of minuses.Oct 13, 2009
The Eikon works, but there are a few minuses.

1) It sticks out from the side of a laptop, which makes it vulnerable to being damaged. I usually use it, then remove it.

2) Since it just connects by the USB connector, it doesn't feel very stable. Once you get used to swiping your finger without applying much pressure, that isn't a problem.

3) The Protector Suite software (which I also use with another fingerprint reader) is marginal. They also charge for all upgrades.

4) The software is not yet available for the Mac, although they've been promising it awhile.

So I've had mixed results with the Eikon, but I haven't found anything better for my application.

5Works and securesAug 14, 2009
I was hooked on my last laptop to finger print readers. My new laptop however did not come with one. So I decided to buy one from the same company that my old laptop had used. It works great other than when my fingers get dried out and crack and peel, but that's my problem no the finger print reader.

4Times out quite a bitMay 03, 2009
Works great unless it times out. Much better than typing passwords. I probably should have bought the non-portable one as it's pretty much always connected to my work Mac.

5Workin GreatApr 29, 2009
Okay, I heard about computers having built in finger print scanners and thought, "well, what's really the point?"... But then I talked to a co-worker of mine who let me know what all these things could do. I had no idea that they could remember all your internet passwords and log ons... I didn't know you could use it to launch programs... But he told me all about it and since I'm a guy with numerous different log on names and passwords... Ranging in difficulty from 7 alpha characters to 32 alpha numeric with symbols, upper and lowercase... And the number of variations in log ons doesn't help my cause at all... This is the perfect solution. I remembers all my passwords and log on's for me. And if you have it set up just on the device, you can store 15 fingerprints and if you have it set up ro store on your PC, you can have however many you want. Since I'm the only one using the device, I went with on the device set up. Some people complained that they were worried about hurting their usb ports, well, the one I got came with a short little cable so you could sit it on a surface, I don't know if this was added due to suggestions or what, but with this, you can keep the pressure off your USB port if you are worried about it. I say it's a great product and I'm glad to spoil myself with it.
